Minutes: Mrs. Burdick questioned the Computer Assisted Facility Management Software and stated that she was unaware that this project would require more than the 1.4 million originally allocated. Mrs. Burdick requested a breakdown of the $20.2 million that has been allotted for "minor projects." Dr. Richmond questioned the requirements and procedures for elevator inspections. At Dr. Robinson's request, staff responded to questions regarding: $100 laptops; digital divide; modern computers in AAA schools; and expanding access to media centers at AAA schools. Judy Garcia, Manager of Instructional Support, provided Board Members with an update on the progress that has been made at The Education Network (T.E.N.) and reviewed their plan to expand to fifteen channels. Dr. Benaim questioned the main limiting factor hindering intranet access at T.E.N. Dr. Garcia summarized the following projects: Technology Utilization Center; Tower Maintenance and Repair; Distance Learning and Virtual Schools; Infrastructure Development; and Digital Video Repository. Mrs. Burdick suggested drafting a proposal to be sent to the State to fund a pilot program for distance learning and virtual schools. Dr. Robinson stated that she would support that, as long as it was not mandatory. Mrs. Burdick questioned if the District has researched alternative fuels for buses. Discussion Item: Charter School Update - Graham: Mr. Graham provided Board Members with an update on Charter Schools and announced that materials will be sent from FSBA in the near future.
